How do I compress an image to an exact size like 200 KB?
Drop the image, type 200 KB as the target, and press SQUISH IT. The engine measures real encodes at several quality levels, then binary-searches the quality and scale until the file lands just under 200 KB - Typically within 1-2% of the number you asked for.
How do I compress a video to 8 MB, for example for Discord?
Drop the video, set 8 MB as the target, and choose MP4 or WEBM. SQUISH computes the bitrate from your target and the clip duration, encodes, measures, and corrects until the file fits under 8 MB.
Is anything uploaded?
No. Nothing is uploaded - SQUISH runs 100% on your device. Files are read locally and compressed with canvas and WebAssembly in your browser; after the first load it even works offline.
What file types does SQUISH support?

Will the output ever be bigger than my target?
Never. The output is guaranteed to be at or under the size you set - If the target is extremely small, SQUISH keeps reducing quality, dimensions or bitrate until it fits, and suggests a larger target when that trade gets heavy.
